I got a phone call to say there was a cancellation slot available for my cataract to be removed. I had been due to have this done when we went into lockdown nationwide,
Already confined to the house because of my age I could not go out for daily exercise as I could not see kerbs, potholes, uneven pavements etc. Living alone meant that I was confined to my house (but was lucky that I have a garden) and could not get a daily walk.
Time dragged on and in late September I was sent an appointment for the eye hospital. They told me it would be another 4 to 6 months because of the backlog of cancelled operations. I was however given the chance to go on the cancellations list'
Then week before last the call came!!! Can you have a Covid test on Wednesday and if clear we will operate on Friday? And that's what happened!.
So now it's drops every four hours for a few weeks followed by an eye test, follow up appointment and new glasses. I have been wearing sunglasses as everything seems so bright but I have been out and I can now make out kerbs and other obstacles.
I have even started reading for short periods and I am hoping to do things that I had to abandon because of my poor eyesight.
I know today we have started life in Tier 2 with a possibility of more restrictions to come but suddenly for me the world is definitely a whole lot brighter!
Great news that you got it done sooner to later. I am sure as time goes by you will reap the benefits of the surgery even more. Julie had both hers done, a few months apart and was home within about 4 hours on the second one. We looked forward to the optician visit so she could get new glasses but lock down hit so we had to wait but now she has her new glasses she is well away with her new vision. Like you she found it bright initially after so long of the cataracts.
Pleased you got it done and soon be even better am sure once get your new specs too. The future is certainly bright! 😀
Good to have you back Brenda
Thank you Anthony.
Hi Brenda, that is good news, I hope the healing process goes well.
