As Wendy has said, am pleased to read some of the work has been done and the rest done next week. Like wise, I am just as nosey and wonder what colour and even sort of design wallpaper you thinking of? Being a birdie fan I have seen some lovely parrot wallpapers on Amazon and EBay for sale. Have often thought of having just the 1 wall papered in something parroty.
Had the floor done last friday just waiting on the skirting board to be fixed witch will be next thurdays then i can get wallpaper up then i just need to wait till got enough money to bye new carpet and under lay
That's the link for the bidding and what is available to bid on. You have to be registered and log in to bid. Have you done all the paperwork with your housing officer? I remember when we were looking we had to speak with them and we then were sent a bidding reference number.
Does look like some change happening in the set up by looks but call housing officer and they can point you in direction. Don't know if you are downsizing but if so can maybe get help with things and is a team who deal with this and help. We found lady we dealt with fantastic.
I not on the bidding site yet as i am trying to get on it i have emailed my housing officer but she dont always reply to me as i have emiled her in the past about things and i never get a reply so i will see if she replys back to me on monday but something tells me i will not get reply but i can only hope.
I am sorry to read this Justin and sometimes it makes me wonder if the powers that be can maybe sit back and look at how things are maybe prioritised not just thinking oh this is the practical side of it the repair but also the effect it has on the individual who is living in the situation. Maybe a word with your GP may help? I know our GP who recently semi retired was great at writing and supporting patients if there was a real need for something and do what she could to help. So perhaps a word with your GP might help perhaps?
As Brenda said also a word to a local Councillor might help, certainly worth a try.
I hope the Surveyor contacts you sooner to later and gets this sorted for you. The colder months are coming upon us and the last thing you need is aggravating your health any more than it has to.
I am sure Surveyors are busy too and have a full work load so is all 'getting through their lists' but sometimes do think maybe a system where it flags up that their is an existing health matter or something which might move that tenant up that list.
Try and keep smiling and keep us informed on how things go for you. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know.
It might be an idea to contact your local councillor to see if they can help. They want your vote at election time so should help you as a council tenant. Also a call to Enviromental Health might not come amiss. If the damp is aggravating health problems they should know about it.
Thank you I did phone the council Monday and Tuesday but they said I have to wait for the surveyor to phone me, but if I haven't heard by the end of next week I have to phone back up. Due to the way I am having to live it is affecting my anxiety and depression. Due to the damp it is causing me headaches.
Yes i rang up yesterday and i was told by the man he would ring me back later that day but he never so i rang them back up today.
I was told today that the surveyor will ring me to sort out a date and time to come and look at what will need to be done and also said if i not had a call from them by end of next week ring back up.
But the damp not good for my arthritis as i have it in more then just one or two places plus it not good fore my mental heath.
It was wooden flooring and as i got it three years ago but it was not cheap flooring so will have to try and sort out new but and till the surveyor as been out and the job as been done i could be looking at six to eight weeks witch is not good.
Blimey Justin, just what you don't need. I am guessing is a wooden floor? Have you emailed the council also? I personally find that as well as a call an email works wonders as I use it then as a point of reference if needs be as can say I emailed you and quote the date to them. Are you insured and able to make a claim on that for the carpet?
Is just such an upheaval of it all and the mess you end up in whilst it all being sorted. Just have to think be worth it in the end, nicely decorated room and flooring sorted topped off with a new carpet, All in time for Christmas so maybe a gift from you to you of the new carpet. If any help is a reasonable place on the Horspath Industrial Estate for carpetting and their prices always been fairly reasonable we found when needing it. They can do fitting as an additional cost but sometimes worth it against wrestling laying a carpet yourself.
No my weekend was not as good my friend come to help me paint my living room and had to rip up my flooring as it was all damp and mold so have no flooring now. I rang occ and they said they would ring me back today and never did and there is a big crack in floor going from one side to the other so have to go with flooring for a few weeks now and till it as been fix and got the money to get a carpet 😣😣😣

Hope you had a good weekend too
