Hi All
This is a first for me and I’m stepping completely out of my comfort zone.
We have faced lots of changes lately and I’m looking at change in a positive way and to start it off, I’ve decided to ’dip my toe‘ in the water and put a post on here.
I met up with Wendy today, we had a very positive catch up and talked about the changes ahead for us all as a team. I was concerned about social distancing, but it went well. I spoke to Wendy about my fears of using the technology for meetings, chat, catch up etc, she was really helpful and put my mind at rest and that’s why I’ve decided to try it out with this post.
To anyone who has nervous energy, like mine, about the technology, get yourself a cup of tea, have a couple of runs through (if you’re anything like me, delete it a few times...lol) and then say to yourself if I want to be a part of this new way of working, I’m going to have try’.
By the time you read this, Wendy has probably visited others, and to any of you who use technology well, please keep me up to speed. I’m open to any help and to any that aren’t up to speed, we’ve heard this time and time.......WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
Im looking forward to the new way of working. It sounds new and exciting, we will still have a partnership.
Now on a lighter note, over lock down I have been growing tomatoes. They started off slowly, not much happening, so I decided to go out and torment them by ‘chattering’ to them and I think they took notice because I have an abundance of tomatoes Now at the moment they are green, and if they don’t turn red soon, I shall have to shake them up again with a good old talking too! Some of you may well remember Percy Thrower, and definitely Alan Titchmarsh so I’ve used this 2 pronged approach, to threaten them.
Keep your vibrations high, stay motivated and if that fails make yourself a strong cup of tea 😁
Hi Celia yes i am the same as you not sure on all this but i am giving it ago so i can try to help the team go a long way.
I do fine some things hard but i just keep trying and hope i get to wear i am trying.
All we can do is try are best and keep at it 😁
Hi Celia
Hope you are well? Glad you have 'dipped ypur toe in the water' and written a post! Its not too bad is it? I think we are all on the same platform with the new world as it is taking virtual relationships to a norm and we are all finding our feet (lots of reference to feet here!)
Over the lockdown period I spent countless hours teaching my parents how to use technology - both intelligent people but it was like teaching a child to ride a bike but from a distance and not being able to catch them when they fall. Mum is now a keen Facebook stalker and Dad is now a fan of Audibles and is enjoying many a book whilst sunbathing in his garden. I have learnt to use Jitsi and have to remember to brush my hair in advance of a team meeting. Amazon has been a godsend and have also built my own website for my artwork.
To be honest the web has been a life line as this is the only way I have been able to 'see' my daughter who lives in Bristol. This is the longest time in 29 years we have been apart and I really struggle with this as I know she does and its not the same as being in the same room, but I am thankful that this didnt happen before the advance in technology as a phone call would not have been the same!
We are in this together and we will get through this together. It feels like we are in a maze trying to get out and we hit some dead ends but as we try a new route, we get a little further.
I feel a bit like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible...'do you accept this challenge?' errrr YES!!!!!
Hi Celia!
Congrats on dipping that toe! Any questions just ask I say. The only daft question is the 1 we not ask! So if I can offer any help just let me know. Even those of us who know our way round a keyboard make mistakes and often something new learn along the way.
I remember Percy and his shows and vague memories of watching with my parents. I admit to not always knowing 1 plant from another and rely more on my wife to say yes or no to a plant. I usually say that looks nice or something and then she says yes or no! I admit to once helping friend on their allotment and happily watering away to be told that's a load of weeds!
I look forward to the new challenges we are facing and apart from getting to know more folk and things to also exercise the grey matter on some of the challenges ahead.
