Good Morning All
I trust you are all well, today sees the lockdown starting to ease with the sound of children chattering on their way to school as they pass Chez Church.
Lots of changes have been happening in Barns Road with the Great Estates project nearing its completion and what a transformation there has been we have gone from an area that was overgrown, neglected drying areas that were unusable, poor lighting. no security to keep out undesirables and a place that residents could not utilise for relaxing or socialising in the great British Summertime well hopefully if the weather is kind to us this will all change in 2021, we now have new seating areas, new drying areas, planters that residents can take ownership of, we have updated security with the addition of gates at all possible entries to the rear of the properties accessed by fob linked to the entry door system, new security lighting that floods the area at night and prevents anyone that does not have any business here being able to hide. we have new pathways that d0 not have trip hazards! Thank you to everyone who has had involvement in this project, Tenant Ambassadors, Architects, Tenant Involvement Team our TMO and Oxford Direct Services who were the main contractors and anyone I may have forgotten.
I will not pretend that the whole project has been smooth going but any problems that have arisen have in my opinion been addressed very quickly and communication with the residents has been good.
The five blocks that have seen this massive change to the place where they live have also benefitted form the installation of new Warrior entrance doors that have increased the amount of light coming into the entrance lobby and there are no panels that people can hide behind so when I open my flat door I can see who is standing outside so we have heightened security within the blocks as well.
Hi Anthony. Thanks for a great update. I do hope everyone living there will find benefits of the upgrade and reap the benefits long term between improved security to subject to the great British weather obliging the opportunity to sit out enjoy fresh air and for those with youngsters hopefully a safer area for them to play whilst parents can maybe enjoy a chat and cuppa with neighbours in the sun.
I think there has been a lot learnt from this project good and bad and will help with planning on future schemes. It was indeed in need of a makeover and had its day. I knew like anything you gotta get in a mess to come out other side with something good and worth while. Bit like decorating, gotta get in a mess and have grumbles from other half about the mess how long this gonna take and then once done the hassles were worth it. Other half coos at your efforts and pat's you on the head for doing a good job! The bit in between and muddle and mess slowly gets forgotten on seeing end result.
I hope in time maybe folk subject to social distancing can get together have picnics and enjoy the area as a community. As and when allowed I know I be hassling you for invite for tea and cake and a tour of the new improved area! 🙂
