I thought I be nosey!
With Lockdown hopefully easing and things moving in a positive direction all being well anyone got any plans for the loosening of Lockdown? Maybe a weekend away or a massive shopping trip or just catching up with friends and family within the guidelines?
I would love to say I have something wonderful planned here but for us things will plod along as they have been. I am hoping subject to being able to for a meet up with my old school pal later in the year and an overnight stay at some nice hotel on the south coast. That is plans for me and fingers crossed can do it. An overnight stay would be nice as am often told I need to have a break but I would love to see my old pal as not seen each other for must be coming up 3 years. Texts are okay but we have one of them friendships where we just pick up in person where we left off and like we saw each other a couple of weeks ago. He is a busy GP down on south coast so we usually meet away from his hometown so he gets a break too and know he has been working full on this last year with the virus.
Has been strange seeing a bit more traffic on the road I think! Been a noticeable change in traffic round our way and seen the usual morning and teatime queues thrown in with cyclists weaving in and out the traffic and them new Escooters being about. Not gonna moan, honest! But I know is a great idea just sometimes wish them on them have a bit of respect for pedestrians and not think the pavement is just for them. We change our car later this year and I am looking into either a hybrid or electric vehicle. Apart from hopefully savings fuel wise is also me doing my bit for the environment so trying to get my head round running costs of these new vehicles to my usual petrol driven motor.
So, back to my main point! Anyone got anything good planned for the coming months and new found freedom we hoping to have and maintain all being well?
Hi all,
I am looking forward to being able to see my cousin who lives on the Isle of Wight we regularly used to meet up in Portsmouth where we spend the day at the historic naval dockyard viewing the Mary Rose exhibition and other historical vessels if you have never been it is really worth a visit, I am also looking forward to being able to go to watch my beloved
football team (West Ham) play at the fantastic London Stadium, its ironic that the team are enjoying their best season for many a year and its loyal fans have not been able to sit in the stands and cheer them on.
My grandfather used to live in the house he was born in that used to be across the road from the old Boleyn Ground and he had life membership at West Ham and he would attend very home match, sadly he passed away in 2019 at the ripe old age of 103 and never got to see the team play at the London Stadium.
I am also looking forward to some decent weather so that I along with my wife can enjoy our newly refurbished garden plus the newly finished communal garden here at Barns Road.
Let's all hope and pray the end of the lockdown restrictions bring families back together, friends re-unite and that we never have to go through anything like this again.
I wish all of the Tenant Involvement Family the very best of health to enjoy the things you are looking forward to doing when restrictions are lifted.
Sounds like some great plans ahead Brenda and hope you manage to see family and friends and yes hugs are something we all been missing out on with the distancing and not being able to see people. I think it be quite strange when we can hug a friend or loved one again, almost feel not natural after so long of having to keep distance. So fingers crossed you get to see your son and daughter in law and London friends. They do indeed grow so fast children! A month can see a change in them let alone a year or more of not seeing.
Pending on when we manage to arrange a meet up it may well be in the new car. I admit that one of my concerns on all electric is charging for if driving any distance, which for me is not common but if I do need to it is knowing I can charge the car somewhere and not run out of power! Something I am currently looking at and whether hybrid is the way for now. Not that I do much distance driving these days. I am thinking when I do manage to meet old school pal I may let the train take the strain this time as think trains to
Southampton are generally pretty regular and is where we likely to meet up.
The one thing I am looking forward to is seeing family and friends that I have not seen, It was November 2019 when I last saw my son and daughter in law. They live in South Wales so when I can have them come for an overnight stay it will be great!
We do speak on the phone, but to see them face to face and hopefully have a hug will probably bring tears of joy!
I have close friends in London who have two adorable children. When I last saw them the little girl was a baby I cradled in my arms but now she is walking and later this year her older brother will be starting school. Children grow up so fast that I am sure I will not really recognise them.
I do hope you get to have your overnight stay in a hotel to meet with your friend. Perhaps you will be driving there in your new car - but however you travel - enjoy!!
