Update on my housing situation
ECP pulled through and within 2 months I got offered a new ground floor flat still in the OX4 area, which are new builds. Neighbours are really nice, a few are actually from the tower block I originally came from Evenlode when I got talking with my neighbours alot of my them have had a few bad experiences regarding housing so im glad the council have noticed that alot of residents just want a fresh start to life,I am one of them and at the moment couldn't he happier with where I am. I ain't allowed to decorate / paint until next year due to the flat just being built, annoying but understandable, only thing I'm finding difficult at the moment is bus routes and getting my daughter into a nursery closer by at the moment the catchment Areas of nurseries I've inquired about are fully full until 2022 September. My support worker is currently trying to find solution around travelling from the new builds in Littlemore to Blackbird leys and back 6 times a week is difficult , unfortunately they've only gave us bus routes for Henley , walingford , Benson and Reading and Oxford city centre, which I don't agree with as there isn't any pathways until you get to sainburys to acsess getting blackbird leys from the George pub in Littlemore. I've emailed about the 3A being a route fitted in my new area all I know so far is oxford bus company have a high demand for it.
Apart from that I'm settled and happy. Things don't happen over night but I know I'll get there especially with the support of my IDA group and the rest of you.
To be honest dave house warming sounds good 🤣
Pleased to hear you all moved and settling in. Does give you a year of planning decor wise whilst buildings settle or whatever and can then get round to decorating as you want.
Maybe in time as bus companies see need for links they may add in or direct services round more. I remember when we lived at greater leys was nothing and either a fair walk to a shop or quite trip using the car. Had to walk on to Blackbird Leys to get a bus back then but now think they have quite a good service going round. I guess all takes time sorting stuff out and adding things to new places.
I am sure feeling the benefits of ground floor living and easier access with a youngster. When's the house warming?! Maybe we all turn up!!! 🙂😁😂
Furnished tenancy I got mostly rid off and got my own things like the sofa, cooker , chester draws etc. It's just the carpet now which is fine. They gave us free flooring for bathroom and kitchen already laid so guess that's a bonus of a new build. Move wasn't so great bike got taken in Broad day light even though it was locked out. Can't do anything about it as CCTV was down. Hey ho , out with the old in with the new at least I got plenty of security in my new area especially regarding bikes.
Hi Angel - How did you find the move and did you get a furnished tenancy to go with that?
