My name is David Lincoln. I am slightly over 21…. Ok a young 68!
I have been married to Rosemarie (a nursery nurse) for 44 years...stiII no time off for good behaviour!
We have three children; Matthew (42) who lives with his Partner (Alison) and son (Nathaniel) in Mansfield.
Daniel (41), lives at home and is a bus driver with Stagecoach (Oxford)
And...
My daughter: Laura-Jean, known to us as Madam, she is 31. Lives in Chinnor with her partner Darren, and four children Joshy, Oliver, Oscar, and Isla-Rose.
My wife and I are very proud of all our children and the way they have turned out.
We also have 2 unofficially unadopted daughters... Hayley and Shireen. Oh! And not forgetting Holly the cat who thinks she is a dog, likes to play fetch, especially with Worthers originals sweets, playing with the spirit of our previous cat meow (cos that's what she did) and sleeping. We know when meow is around as Holly's ears will go back, she will start staring at various places in the lounge and then all hell breaks loose.
I don't hold any major academical qualifications but some employment related ones, I am always willing to learn, we should never stop learning, everyday there is something new to learn, keeps me young as do the grandchildren and Holly.
My working life has been pretty varied from learning retail management at the Oxford & Swindon co-operative society (when there was one!) in the dry goods side (Furniture, footwear, white goods, audio visual etc.) to serving in the RAF where I first came into contact with and starting learning computing. Thoroughly enjoyed myself in the RAF, saw many different places and countries that I would never have got to see otherwise.
I have many years' experience in IT, Retail, Administrative and Customer Service industries.
I have also been a Parish Councillor (Risinghurst), a Parent Governor and a member of the PTA at my children’s schools. When we lived in Leeds I also served on the Local Tenants and residents association.
I am very proactive and flexible, always prepared to go the extra mile and willing to take on multiple tasks.
I have a professional but approachable outlook on life and stacks of enthusiasm!
In my spare time when I am not on the computer doing "admin" for a Facebook group or keeping up with the latest technical advances, I like to relax with a good book or watch a little television. I particularly enjoy Time Team, programs from the National Geographic, History and Animal Planet channels on sky. I also enjoy driving and visiting places of Historical interest. I am an avid Star Trek collector and of other collectables inc coins and other memorabilia.
So that’s me, not such an exciting life but a packed one!
Not to be left out here is a photo of Suki. I had her from the Blue Cross at Burford and she is now nearly twelve and a half years old.
Welcome David! It is so good that our band of Ambassadors is growing. Reading about your family and work life I can see that the potential for you to contribute to Tenant Involvement.
I do have some similar experiences having been a parent governor and a member of the P.T.A. of my children's school - challenging to say the least. (It was at the time the system changed from infant/junior/senior to lower/middle/upper schools). I also lived in Risinghurst when my parents brought me to Oxford in 1955. The area was partly in the city, partly in the county. We lived in the county so I went to Sandhills C.P. School. The journey to school was by walking from Netherwoods Roa…
Hello David. All the best folk called David or Dave I think!!
Welcome aboard the Ambassador bus! I am usually the quiet one lurking around here and pop up now and then!
Lovely pics of cats. We not owned cat now for few years after losing Felix who was originally one of our kittens many moons back. We do have couple of dogs and 3 parrots. Hence I was given the nickname Parrot Man! Partly from my Dolly 1 day deciding to pipe up and join in a meeting 1 day! Think she has her own little gang of followers on here somehow! She can be asked after more than me!
Look forward to hearing about you and chatting more…
Welcome aboard young David! (who is slightly over 21 or perhaps a truly young 68)! Good to have you with us!
